According to Nathalie Heugas said, “we are very excited by the success of Vocal over the last number of months. Social media and mobile marketing opens up a considerable number of opportunities to bring brands closer to their consumer. Our clients are truly energised about these opportunities and our experience integrating across social media and mobile platforms continues to get Vocal a very positive response.”
Established by vStream co-founders Andrew Jenkinson and Niall O’Driscoll, Vocal is seen as a logical step to address a growing market demand for expertise as vStream matures as a national and international digital media company.
Andrew Jenkinson adds, “we are delighted with the appointment of Nathalie as director of strategy to bring Vocal to fruition as a specialist agency. Nathalie brings with her a wealth of international experience. A strong strategic thinker, we believe that with Nathalie at the helm, Vocal is extremely well positioned to enable brands engage with their target communities.”
Here’s a sneak preview of an article on social media and mobile trends written by Nathalie Heugas, our Director of Strategy, which will appear in the forthcoming digital edition of the Irish Marketing Journal (IMJ) available from December.
In the last year the phenomenal increase in smart phone usage in Ireland has been self-evident. At every bus stop, in every work meeting, at every social event people are connecting via their mobile in our increasingly, ‘always on’ culture. Recent figures show that smart phone penetration has increased to 40% in Ireland. The Irish market research agency Amarach are predicting that by 2012 Irish adults who have experienced smart phone technology will edge close to 100 percent.
The meteoric rise in smart phone usage has, according to ComScore, been accompanied by increased interaction with social media. This is highlighted by the news that social networking sites, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, each grew their mobile audiences by between 50 and 75 percent in the last year. As the number of mobile phones overtakes PCs, mobile browsers and applications will become the main points of online interaction.
The functionality of smart phones and the ease of downloading apps are changing the way people access social media sites through their mobile devices. Research into the US market revealed that although more people currently access social networking sites via their mobile browser, the social networking app audience grew five times faster in the past year. With mobile gaming already popular the increased integration of social promises some exciting developments in this area.
